Butterfly Table Tennis Dohjo
The Butterfly Table Tennis Dohjo was opened in April 1983 with three objectives: “strengthening the young players in Japan,” “developing the foundations of table tennis” and “promoting international exchange.”
This table tennis dohjo features an underground table tennis floor with a ceiling height and 2500 lux lighting that meets international match standards. It is a specialized facility that realizes the founder’s desire to “create an environment where people can play as much table tennis as they like, whenever they like, 24 hours a day.”
Accommodations are located on the second floor, and the dohjo has so far welcomed not only domestic players, but also overseas players from over 50 countries or regions around the world.
Additionally, it has been used by table tennis enthusiasts in the entertainment industry, including women’s table tennis classes and the Rakugo Table Tennis Club. It has also been
featured in various media outlets such as television, radio and magazines, contributing to the popularization of table tennis.
The facility was renovated after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, making improvements to barrier-free access.
